Formed in 2002 in the Brazilian capital Brasília, Violator set out to become one of the figureheads of the post-millennial new wave of old-school thrash metal. The four-piece band was born from the members' shared love of genre-defining acts from the scene's golden era in the 1980s, combining the unrelenting early style of their country's pioneers (Sepultura, Korzus) with American tradition (genre giants Exodus in particular) and a pinch of hardcore crossover. High Roller Records is proud to reissue four of the group's major releases on vinyl, with "Violent Mosh" being their first professional effort on Brazilian label Kill Again Records in 2004. After one demo and a four-way split, the six-track EP set the tone for what would come two years later on Violator's debut album "Chemical Assault," both titles that captured the energetic live shows they both played on their own and supported international luminaries such as Destruction. Speaking of that, 2010's "Annihilation Process" EP saw vocalist/bassist Pedro Arcanjo go beyond vocal imitations of German frontman Schmier or Kreator's Mille, just as the music was maturing, with songs like the expansive "Futurephobia" showing huge potential. To deliver on this promise, the band's second full-length record "Scenarios of Brutality" (2013) saw their now signature sound come into full fruition, with the atmosphere of a new genre classic. These four records are riff-heavy and intensely paced, credibly expressing rage and fury through established themes ranging from socio-political consciousness and doom-mongering to pure thrash self-referentiality, and flaunting raw yet powerful productions. They are the most essential additions to the genre canon - Let the Violation Begin!
