American act Skeletal Remains delivers a new death metal attack on the new album “Fragments of the Ageless”. The line-up of Chris Monroy (guitar/vocals), Mike De La O (guitar), Pierce Williams (drums) and Brian Rush (bass) embody the genre, deeper, darker and right to the edges of brutality. “'Fragments of the Ageless' is a pummeling record of pure death metal,” says the band. “A tyrannical barrage of no-nonsense riffs and compositions. Everything about this album is fucking brutal and in your face. Skeletal Remains wrote 'Fragments of the Ageless' between European and American tours/festivals with Emperor, Morbid Angel, Mortician, Left to Die and Defeated Sanity. The songwriting sessions were characterized by a no-limit mentality, putting creativity and well-known genre rituals on an equal footing. The result was not just a definitive death metal showpiece, but an evolution. “We've taken things a step further and really honed in on the technical details and ever-increasing intensity, while still keeping the catchiness,” the group says. “With each new record we strive to improve ourselves in our musicianship and songwriting abilities. On the one hand we have increased in density and brutality, and on the other hand we have written a few songs with longer and more 'epic' structures. The lyrical themes of 'Fragments of the Ageless' include folklore, science fiction, history and personal struggle. They were inspired by the striking cover art of Dan Seagrave (Entombed, Memoriam). The album was co-produced by band and studio expert Dan Swanö (Opeth, Incantation), who also mixed and mastered. Fragment of the Ageless proves, death metal is not dead. It has never been so deadly!
