‘Amongst the Low & Empty’ injects Signs of the Swarm’s raging deathcore with serious groove and industrial pulse, drawing comparisons to Meshuggah, Deftones and Fear Factory. It takes the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania band to a new level of bleakness: the soundtrack to a not-so-distant dystopian future, while their own burns brighter than ever. The fire was stoked via co-producer and mixer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, King 810, Tallah) and was pressure-cooked over a month in the studio to build it from the ground up, with drummer Bobby Crow laying the foundation on which it was built. ‘Amongst the Low & Empty’ starts on a bulldozer note: no meandering intro, with a title track so heavy that a late burst of double bass literally made the band’s manager laugh out loud at its excess. From there, it stops with "Tower of Torsos", "DREAMKILLER" or "The Witch Beckons", featuring Trivium's Matt Heafy alongside the raw animalistic growls of vocalist David Simonich.
Relentless touring with artists like Lorna Shore, Whitechapel, Fit for an Autopsy, Born of Osiris, Archspire and MANY more has given Signs of the Swarm the chance to perfect their craft, but on 'Amongst the Low & Empty' they've really nailed it and are ready to break through into the world of extreme metal.
Simply put, this is the sound of art taken to the extreme.
