For LORNA SHORE, the triumvirate of songs at the heart of "...And I Return to Nothingness" is nothing short of an exorcism - and a plunge into something dark. From the orchestral passage that opens the EP's title track, straight into a bombast of black intensity and devastating grandeur, these New Jersey-based extremists are back, rising from the questions like a phoenix. Reborn and sworn to the darkness. A coming fire that will astound even LORNA SHORE believers.
As the world shut down in 2020, LORNA SHORE delved deeper into the creative instincts that initially made them a fixture on the extreme metal scene with landmark albums: 2015's "Psalms" and 2017's "Flesh Coffin". Since then, they've cobbled together influences and ideas that range from the symphonic grimness of European black metal to the complex fatal sonic formulas of death metal and the aural intensities of hardcore. What LORNA SHORE achieved was a new level of blackened technicality and the next step in their darkside journey. Decorated with artwork by renowned Polish painter Mariusz Lewnadowski (Bell Witch, Fuming Mouth), "...And I Return to Nothingness" reaffirms the creative focus and intensity of LORNA SHORE. The EP's three tracks: "To the Hellfire", "Of the Abyss" and the title track are proof that LORNA SHORE doesn't just carry on their fiery legacy. They breathe new life into it and set their legacy on fire in spectacular fashion.
